As part of proactive operations to counter terrorist threats, the central bureau for judiciary investigations (BCIJ) arrested, on Saturday on the basis of accurate information provided by the directorate general of national territory surveillance, an engineering student suspected of planning and preparing a terrorist project using an explosive belt. The suspect was arrested in the city of Mohammedia over his alleged allegiance for ISIS terrorist group, said a statement by the BCIJ, adding that the search of the student's the room led to the seizure of a laptop, two cell phones, electronic chips, two memory cards, two hard drives and several CDs. Technical expertise will be conducted on all items. The operation also resulted in the seizure of other suspicious materials, namely snorkel equipment, an underwater bow, a wooden baton, electrical cables, a voltmeter, a welding machine and light bulbs, in addition to a scotch tape, according to the same source. The suspect was remanded in custody to conduct the investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor for Terrorism to determine possible links with another terrorist plan, in Morocco or abroad, the statement said.
