A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday in the Ouled Chaker oasis, located in the commune of Aoufous within Errachidia province, according to the Drâa-Tafilalet regional civil protection command. Bouâaza Mimouni, the regional commander, reported that the fire erupted at 10:30 am, destroying nearly 900 palm trees across an area of 11 hectares. Speaking to MAP, Mimouni said the fire, which fortunately caused no casualties, spread rapidly due to strong winds in the region. Thanks to the combined efforts of civil protection elements, local authorities, the Royal Armed Forces, Auxiliary Forces, and the Royal Gendarmerie, the fire was completely extinguished by 3:50 pm. Mimouni added that considerable logistical and human resources were mobilized to control the flames and ultimately put out the fire.
