As part of proactive operations to face dangers of the terrorist threat, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested, on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General for National Territory Surveillance (DGST), on Friday in Inzegane and Ait Melloul, two alleged supporters of «ISIS» over suspicion of preparing terrorist projects in Morocco. According to the preliminary findings of the investigation, the two suspects, aged 18 and 25, one ex-convict under the anti-terrorist law and the other a student at the faculty of Sharia (Islamic Law), had links with other terrorist elements, arrested in July 2018 in Fez and Safi, with whom they were coordinating to obtain firearms they intended to use to commit terrorist operations against sensitive targets in the Kingdom, said the BCIJ in a statement. The suspects had intense contacts with ISIS supporters outside Morocco in order to benefit from their expertise in the field of manufacturing explosive devices and poisons, in preparation for the execution of their terrorist projects in the Kingdom, it said. The two suspects were remanded in police custody for the investigation conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor for terrorism affairs, to shed light on their involvement in the preparation of terrorist acts and identify possible accomplices in Morocco or abroad, it concluded.
