Families of the Hirak detainees held in, Oukacha prison in Casablanca, are planning to boycott Eid Al Adha this year. A press release issued by the families and relayed by Al Aoual, said that the detainees and their families will fast on Monday and Tuesday in an attempt to boycott the feast. «The families of political prisoners do not boycott the sacrifice as a religious holiday, but the festivities linked to this celebration, given the circumstances known to everybody, we cannot enjoy this feast when our brothers, our children and our innocent fathers are in prison,» said the press release. The same source indicated that the decision was taken amid a meeting organized on 26th of August and attended by the families. «We will attend Eid al-Adha prayer and we will visit our relatives as we always do. Boycotting the sacrifice ritual is a step decided by the families but no one is obliged to abide to it», said the families of the Hirak detainees. They also added that the leading figures of the movement have suggested to «purchasing a single animal that will be sacrificed in the name of all the detainees». For the record, the investigating judge has ordered on Wednesday to end investigations into a number of Hirak activists arrested three months ago amid the demonstrations that took place in the Kingdom's northern region. Nasser Zafzafi alongside six other Hirak detainees will have to stand trial for «harming the integrity of the state», according to Mohamed Aghnaj defense lawyer.
