The video that went viral on the internet showing the body of Hirak leader Nasser Zefzafi and which was seen as humiliating and degrading was shot at the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ). This is what Zefzafi has told his lawyers. Reported on Wednesday by Alyaoum 24, Rachid Belali stated that he visited Nasser Zefzafi on Tuesday. The detainee of the Hirak allegedly told him that the video, published by an online newspaper close to the security services and immediately deleted, was filmed at the BNPJ the day before he was transferred to the local prison, Oukacha. «He told me that a doctor came to consult him and then a man started filming it. He told him that this was normal and common procedure,» said the lawyer. Zefzafi also declared that he could not determine who filmed neither him nor his status. A version of the story that was confirmed also by Issaac Charia, a member of the committee in charge of defending the Rif detainees. «Zefzafi told me that the video was filmed on the premises of the BNPJ,» he told Alyouam 24. On Monday, the General Delegation for Prisons and Reintegration (DGAPR) said that «the broadcast video of Nasser Zefzafi, detained on the basis of the events of Al Hoceima in the local prison Ain Sebaa 1, was not filmed in that penal institution». It said the detainee «never wore the clothes that appeared on the video since he was placed in the prison». «The place where the video was recorded does not resemble to any of the rooms of the local prison Ain Sebaa 1,» explains DGAPR. On the same day, the Attorney General of the King at the Court of Appeal of Casablanca ordered the opening of an investigation to determine the circumstances of the recording of this video and the purpose of its publication. The video was deemed «humiliating» and «degrading» by several public and political figures as soon as it was published.
