Arrested in October 2016 in Paris, Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is still jailed in the Fleury-Mérogis prison. After his trial took place in Tuesday 11th April, the singer's lawyer refused to disclose any of the proceedings or the verdict to the media, as Al Arabiya's online newspaper reported. Mohamed Oumoussi, Al Arabiya journalist who witnessed the circumstances of the trial, tweeted about Eric Dupont-Moretti lawyer of Lamjarred: «Saad's lawyer came out quickly, was angry at the hearing, and refused to talk to reporters on the grounds that this is not an appropriate time.» Oumoussi, who is also head of Dubai's television in Paris, pointed out that the hearings were confidential and that the lawyer refused to be followed by the reporters; which he believed was for the lawyer «something to worry about.» Oumoussi reported that the Lamjarred's lawyer requested to postpone the trial while the judge refused to accept the temporarily release of the defendant. For the record, the singer was arrested on Wednesday morning 26th of October at Paris Marriott Champs-Elysées hotel in France. He was accused of raping and violating a 20 year-old French woman.
