Photographs of Moroccan tribesmen from the 70s will be part of a sophisticated exhibition in New York. Fans of photography will have the chance to attend an exhibition of the great American Photographer Irving Penn (1917- 2009) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. According to the Met Museum website, Penn's exposition will be hosted from the 24th of April till 30th of July providing a series of photos that the artist took during his 70-year career. Irving Penn The Met's exhibition represents Penn's history and displays his trip to Morocco along with several other countries. It contains also the artist's most notorious projects namely portraits of urban laborers, Color flower and his voyage to Peru and New Guinea. Published by the Met's museum's YouTube channel, the video immortalizes the photographer's visit to Morocco. In a rare footage put together by the Metropolitan Museum, Penn installs his portable studio and takes pictures of Moroccan men and women. The video is shot by Lisa Fonssagrives Penn in 1971 when her husband visited Morocco to photograph its authenticity for the Metropolitan Museum. The photographs taken in Morocco will be presented in conjunction with the «IRVING PENN : Centennial». The latter is organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in collaboration with the Irving Penn Foundation.
