From February 1 to 8, 2025, the Dakhla peninsula in Morocco will be the vibrant stage for the 11th edition of the Raid Sahraouiya. This remarkable event blends athletic prowess, personal challenge, and a dedication to solidarity, all aimed at fostering sustainable social and environmental impact. A hundred women from ten different countries will embark on this extraordinary journey. Among them are notable figures such as actress Ariane Brodier, journalist Daniela Prepeliuc, Olympic judoka Asmaa Niang, and mountaineer Nawal Sfendla. Competing in pairs, these participants will tackle diverse challenges including mountain biking, trail running, canoeing, and abseiling, set against the stunning backdrop of the Sahara dunes and the Dakhla lagoon. Since its inception, the Raid Sahraouiya has become an essential event, championing the values of sharing and kindness. Each participant selects a charity to support, with prize money awarded to the causes backed by the winning teams. Over the past decade, the event has contributed more than 140,000 euros to various charitable projects. This year, SOS Children's Villages Morocco is deepening its collaboration with the event. A portion of the funds raised will be allocated to equipping a sports center for children without family support in Dakhla, as well as for young people from the local community.
