he Casablanca judicial police seized, on Wednesday, two tons and 340 kilograms of chira on board a truck. A statement by the national police (DGSN) said that the driver of the truck and his son, aged 17, were arrested during this operation, for their alleged links with a criminal network of international drug trafficking. The operation was conducted at the toll station of the Tit Mellil highway in the suburbs of Casablanca, in coordination with the services of the Royal Gendarmerie, added the same source, specifying that some 4357 pieces of wood wrapped in bags of chira were seized on board this truck which came from a city in the north of the Kingdom. The suspect was placed in custody while the minor was placed under police surveillance to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal network at the national and international levels, according to the DGSN.
