On Monday, several reports suggested that Atlas Lions' coach Hervé Renard would be leaving Morocco after the team was knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently held in Egypt. According to Arabic-language daily Al Massae, a Royal Moroccan Football Federation «meeting» will decide fate of the French coach. This meeting will reportedly «announce a breakup with Renard whose contract with the Lions is to expire in 2022», the newspaper reported, recalling that the coach and the federation's president Faouzi Lakjaa have reportedly held a previous meeting in Cairo. Al Massae explains that Lakjaa «stressed from the very beginning that Renard's goal is to help the Atlas Lions reach the competition's finale». The same source recalls that up until now, Renard has not shared yet his decision. Rumors on Renard's departure come as Saudi media outlet Arriyadiyah reported, Sunday, that the French coach could join the Saudi team. A source from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, contacted Monday by Yabiladi, denied the rumor, insisting that there is no «official announcement» regarding the future of the French coach at the moment.
