Security services at the Tangier-Med port foiled, Sunday in coordination with the customs services, an attempt to traffic a record 27.3 tons of chira seized on board three freight transport trucks registered in Morocco. The inspection operation of the three vehicles, which were about to leave Morocco by sea to Europe and which were supposed to carry a cargo of industrial equipment, made it possible to seize the quantity of drugs put in 16 containers in the trailers of the three trucks, a statement by the national police (DGSN) says. The same source adds that the operation resulted in the arrest of three drivers and three assistants, all of Moroccan nationality and aged between 31 and 50 years. The suspects were remanded in custody to complete the investigation led by the judicial police, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
