The police arrested 16 people on Tuesday morning in Casablanca, Oujda, Berkane and Laayoune Charkia, for their alleged links with a criminal network that organizes illegal migration campaigns, says the General Directorate for National Security in a communiqué quoted by MAP news agency. The raids resulted in the seizure of eight vehicles, three canoes, as well as cell phones, money transfer receipts, fuel storage containers, and large sums of money, said the same source. The first elements of the investigation showed that there is a link between the arrestees and people who sell equipment to facilitate illegal migration. The defendants were subjected to a judicial inquiry, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to determine the ins and outs of this criminal network at the national level, said the same statement.
