President of the Morocco-Japan Friendship Association Abdellatif Guerraoui was awarded by the Japanese government the medal of the «Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon», in recognition of his commendable contribution to the development of Moroccan-Japanese relations. This decoration was handed, on Friday in Rabat, to Guerraoui by Japanese ambassador in Rabat Takuji Hanatani, on behalf of the Emperor of Japan. In a speech, Hanatani said he was honored to grant the award to the President of the Morocco-Japan Friendship Association, noting that this medal is an opportunity to reaffirm the strength of relations between Morocco and Japan, to which Guerraoui has contributed in a very remarkable way by his tireless commitment to the development of friendly relations between the two countries. In this regard, he noted that Guerraoui has always worked to foster the friendship between Morocco and Japan and between their peoples, he said, highlighting his efforts to promote mutual understanding between the two countries. The Japanese diplomat recalled that this Association was created on November 8, 1977, with the aim of developing economic, technical, scientific and cultural relations and further broadening the ties of cooperation and friendship that unite the Moroccan and Japanese peoples.
