The Morocco-United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue was launched, on Thursday in London, by the signing of an agreement in the form of an exchange of letters. It was inked by minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Boris Johnson. On this occasion, Morocco and the United Kingdom recalled the depth of the relations that have united the two countries for 800 years, as well as their traditional friendship. The agreement establishing the Morocco-United Kingdom strategic dialogue reinforces this particularity of the long-standing bonds between the two monarchies and the dynamics of bilateral cooperation with a view to setting it in a more ambitious perspective. This new dialogue, which addresses strategic issues of mutual interest, is based on mutual respect and is part of the spirit of friendship and close cooperation that characterizes relations between the two countries. The Moroccan-British strategic dialogue, which will be held annually and alternately in the two countries, will be of a comprehensive nature to maintain harmony by focusing on four main themes: Politics, Security, «Economy and Trade» and «Culture, Education and Youth». As part of the dialogue, the two sides also agreed to maintain regular channels of communication and designated minister of State for Middle East and North Africa, Alastair Burt, and secretary of State, Mounia Boucetta, as the first points of contact to discuss and resolve key bilateral issues, including urgent ones.
