Morocco is to open an embassy in Zambia by September 2017, according to Mounia Boucetta, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Zambia Dailymail online newspaper reported. Received on Monday by the Zambian Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba, Boucetta stated that the embassy will be run by a chargé d'affaires as an interim and will help boost the diplomatic ties between the two African countries. The Zambian Foreign Minister indicated that the opening of this new embassy will certainly «enhance Zambia's continental integration» and «have an action plan for the successful implementation of the 19 bilateral agreements» signed to elevate the economic relations between Morocco and Zambia. «The visit of His Majesty (King Mohammed VI) to Zambia from February 19 to 21, 2017 inaugurated a new era in the relations between our two countries in various fields,» the Moroccan Secretary of State declared. For the record, Morocco and Zambia have signed 19 agreements and memoranda of understanding to reinforce trade and bilateral relations. The agreements were signed during the King's last visit to the Zambian capital at State House.
