Morocco is not selling its remaining 30 percent stake in Maroc Telecom, the country's main telecommunication company. This was announced on Tuesday, 27th of March, by Minister of Economy and Finance Mohamed Boussaid at the UK-Morocco trade and investment forum held currently in London, reports Reuters. «The government has a 30 percent stake left … This is not now on the table for selling», the minister told the British news agency. For the record, Maroc Telecom is Morocco's largest telecoms operators. The rest of the shares are controlled by Etisalat Group, a multinational Emirati based telecommunications services provider, currently operating in 16 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The UK-Morocco Trade & Investment Forum 2018, kicked off Tuesday in London, organized by Morocco's embassy in London and the Developing Markets Associates (DMA), aims to showcase the huge opportunities that Morocco has both within the country and wider afield as a gateway to the region.
