Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation met on Tuesday, 28th of November, with the president of the ECOWAS Commission, Marcel De Souza, the Ministry said in a statement. Speaking to the media, De Souza said that he had discussed with the Moroccan Foreign Minister the kingdom's application to join the Economic Community of West African States. The latter is expected to decide on Morocco's bid on the next summit scheduled for the 16th of December in Abuja, he added. Moreover, the Royal Cabinet has not announced yet whether King Mohammed VI is officially attending the next ECOWAS summit. Le360.ma says that Marcel De Souza sent an invitation to the sovereign to attend the next summit. On the other hand, Elaph.com, citing a «Moroccan authorized source», indicates that the king will be present on December the 16th in Abuja. For the record, the king has planned to participate to the ECOWAS meeting, held on June the 4th in Monrovia, Liberia. Finally, the visit was canceled as the Israeli Prime Minister ; Benyamin Netanyahu was also invited to the event.
