President Kaïs Saïed will not lead the Tunisian delegation at the extraordinary Arab summit set for Tuesday, March 4, in Cairo, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday. Instead, Tunisia will be represented by Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti. Saïed's decision to skip the summit, which will focus on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, follows the announcement by APS that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will also not attend the Arab League meeting in Cairo. His absence further underscores Tunisia's alignment with Algeria's foreign policy stance, a shift that began in October 2021 during the Security Council discussions on the Western Sahara issue. At the start of 2025, President Saïed instructed his foreign minister to make «the defense of the right of peoples to self-determination» a fundamental principle of Tunisian diplomacy.
