National team coach Walid Regragui addressed the absence of international player Hakim Ziyech from his final squad in preparation for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Tanzania. During a press conference held today to announce the squad, Regragui explained that he traveled to Qatar to observe both Ziyech and Ghanem Saiss, but neither player featured in the matches. He denied any issues with Ziyech, stating, «He is a great player who has contributed a lot to Morocco, and he is important to us. He has started playing with his team, and we hope he returns to his best form. He is a talented player, and we hope he will be fully ready to join us». Ziyech joined the Qatari club Al-Duhail during the last winter transfer window, moving from Turkish side Galatasaray.
