The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, issued a strong message to the European Union. «As the Kingdom is committed to being a reliable partner of the EU on the Union's priority issues, Morocco deserves the European Union to take into account the fundamental issues and positions of Morocco regarding its territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and everything concerning the development of the country», emphasized the head of diplomacy during a joint press conference held on Tuesday, June 11 in Rabat, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon. For the record, in March 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs had invited European Union countries to support the autonomy initiative in the Sahara, proposed by Morocco in 2007. «Autonomy for the Sahara is the only solution supported by the United States, France, and African countries, and recently Spain and Germany. The time has come for Europe to step out of its comfort zone to support the Moroccan autonomy plan», he told media following talks in Rabat with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken.
