The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced, Thursday, the appointment of Tarik Sektioui as the new coach of the U23 Morocco national football team, succeeding Issam Charaï. In a statement, the FRMF explained that this change aligns with the «new framework established by the National Selection Commission, which outlines the coordination and changes within the national selection techniques for all categories». The FRMF also expressed its «sincere gratitude to Issam Charaï for the work accomplished» while leading the U23 national team. Coach Sektioui's immediate challenge is to prepare the Lions of the Atlas U23 for the upcoming Paris Olympics (2024 Olympics). In preparation, the team has two friendly matches scheduled: March 22nd vs. Ukrainian U21 national team and March 26th vs. Welsh U21 national team in Antalya, Turkey. It's important to note that Morocco's qualification for the 2024 Olympics is contingent on securing their spot in the African U23 Cup of Nations, scheduled for June 2023. Additionally, from July 24th to August 10th, the Olympic Men's Football Tournament will take place in France, with three African nations participating: Morocco, Egypt, and Mali.
