Algeria has challenged Spain's explanation for the postponement of Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares' planned visit to Algiers on February 12th. While Spanish diplomatic sources cited «agenda reasons», Algerian sources offer a different perspective. According to «well-informed Algerian sources» quoted by Echoroukonline, preparations for the visit were ongoing until Sunday evening. However, since these preparations «did not yield decisive results», the visit could not be scheduled as initially agreed. The Algerian sources emphasize that both sides were involved in the preparations. They reveal that an official Spanish delegation even traveled to Algiers to finalize arrangements. Notably, they point out that Algeria never officially announced the visit. This contradicts Thursday's Spanish press release, which stated that Albares was expected in Algiers upon the Algerian government's invitation.
