Morocco ranked first in the medal table of the Dakar pre-Olympic boxing tournament with 8 medals, including 4 gold. The precious metal was earned by pugilists Rabab Cheddar (51 kg), Khadija Mardi (75 kg) and Oumayma Bel Ahbib (69 kg) on the women's side and Youness Baala (91 kg) in the men's contest. In the final medal table, Morocco was ahead of Algeria which won 8 medals, including 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze, while Cameroon came third with 3 medals (2 gold and 1 bronze). Zambia took the 4th place (1 gold, 2 silver) in front of Tunisia, fifth, with 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Six Moroccan pugilists (3 men and 3 women) qualified for the Tokyo Olympics at the end of the Dakar tournament. They are Rabab Cheddar (51 kg), Khadija Mardi (75 kg) and Oumayma Bel Ahbib (69 kg) on the women's side, and Youness Baala (91 kg), Abelhaq Nadir (63 kg) and Mohamed Assaghir (81 kg) in the men's category.
