Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders urged parliament to launch an inquiry into alleged political interference in his «fewer Moroccans» trial, Dutch News reported. Wilders' reaction comes after Dutch broadcaster RTL Nieuws and the Telegraaf newspaper revealed that the then-justice minister Ivo Opstelten contacted the public prosecution department about the case that erupted in 2014. They reported that «Opstelten was keen to see Wilders prosecuted for leading the anti-Moroccan chant at a pre-election meeting». Reacting to these reports, current Dutch Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus refused to send documents about these alleged meetings to the parliament, stressing that there are «no (formal) indications of interference by Opstelten», the same newspaper added. In 2014, Wilders told the crowds that «the Hague should be a city with fewer problems, if possible, fewer Moroccans». He then asked his followers whether they want more or fewer Moroccans in the city and they chanted repeating «fewer, fewer, fewer». Wilders responded saying : «We will take care of that». He was accused of discriminating against people with a Moroccan background.
