The government of Quebec awarded several medals, Monday, at the National Assembly to the victims and heroes of the 2017 City mosque terror shooting. According to Radio Canada, authorities awarded Azzedine Soufiane the «good citizenship» medal. The 57-year-old Moroccan-Canadian man who «received the bravery award, posthumously». During the attack, Soufiane «managed to pounce on the gunman and overpower him for several seconds, but was killed when the shooter broke free and resumed firing his weapon», wrote CBC. The event was attended by his three children and wife. Another medal was granted to Aymen Derbali, a married man with three children, who had also been brave that day by trying to distract the terrorist from shooting worshipers before he was shot in the leg. The man was left paralyzed after the shooting. Derbali's «friends raised $400,000 to help him and his family buy a new home, adapted to accommodate his wheelchair», the same source added. Alexandre Bissonnette, the terrorist behind the attack, is to be convicted on Friday.
