A 26-year-old Moroccan national was arrested on the 6th of April in Şanlıurfa (south-eastern Turkey), following an international arrest warrant issued by the Spanish police. I. J. is suspected of being «one of the leading ISIS' recruiters in Spain and Morocco who sends [fighters] to Syria and Iraq,» report EFE and Europa Press. According to a press release issued by the Spanish Interior ministry, the Moroccan alleged terrorist «is one of the first 'foreign fighters'» of the terrorist organization called «Islamic State». He is believed to have joined ISIS in April 2012, taking a flight from Morocco to Turkey to enter Syria. Before joining the terrorist organization in Syria, the Fnideq-native acted as a local recruiter. His mission was to recruit young women to go to Syria and get them married to «fighters», revealed sources contacted by the Spanish news agency. He played an important role in the recruitment and indoctrination network in Morocco and Spain. «It facilitated the sending and transfer of jihadists to Syria and Iraq,» the source said. The Spanish Interior ministry also indicates that «he played a key role at the border between Turkey and Syria, where one of his main tasks was to bring the new members of the [terrorist] organization into the city of Gaziantep, Turkey, to help them cross the border without being detected by the Turkish authorities».
