The Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, described the cyberattacks—targeting the websites of the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, as well as the National Social Security Fund (CNSS)—as «criminal», particularly given their suspicious timing. During a press briefing on Thursday following the Government Council meeting, Baitas specified that the affected institutions had taken the necessary measures to strengthen their digital infrastructures and bolster cybersecurity. He also confirmed that «the judicial authorities have been notified». «This is a criminal act that, unfortunately, targets several countries and institutions. These cyberattacks are undoubtedly an attempt to undermine the Kingdom's successive diplomatic advances regarding the national cause», he said, adding that they were instigated by hostile parties and resulted in the leakage of certain data related to the CNSS on social media. Baitas explained that «these cyberattacks occurred on the very day the United States reaffirmed their recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara», reiterating that autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty remains the only solution to this artificial dispute, which represents a major victory for Morocco and its national cause. He asserted that «this recognition by the United States of the Moroccan Sahara is a confirmation of the historic position of the American administration on the national cause, noting that President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, in December 2020, during which Washington affirmed its recognition of Morocco's full sovereignty over the entire Moroccan Sahara region». «The growing trust that Morocco enjoys within the international community, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, now disturbs the enemies of our country to the point of attempting to harm it through these hostile actions», the minister continued. He clarified that after verifying the authenticity of the leaked documents, it was determined that some were false or distorted, as highlighted in a CNSS statement. The Fund has informed the competent judicial authorities to take appropriate measures.
