A direct air link between Agadir and Amsterdam was inaugurated on Tuesday with a maiden flight operated by the low-cost airline Transavia. The inaugural flight landed at Agadir Al Massira Airport from Amsterdam International Airport with 176 passengers on board, according to a statement from the Agadir Souss Massa Regional Tourism Council. This new route, established through a partnership between the Souss Massa Regional Council and the Agadir Souss Massa Tourism Board, aims to strengthen Agadir and the Souss Massa region's presence in the Dutch market. It will also enhance air connectivity for the Souss capital, as Agadir's airport currently serves more than 30 international destinations operated by several airlines, in addition to domestic flights linking the city with Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Tangier, Laayoune, and Dakhla. According to ONAC, an expansion project will soon be launched at Agadir Al Massira Airport to modernize and enlarge its facilities. These upgrades are part of the «Airports 2030» strategy and Morocco's preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The «Airports 2030» strategy aims to solidify Morocco's position as a major air transportation hub in Africa and beyond.
