The Director General of the National Airports Office (ONDA), Adel El Fakir, has appointed Othmane Hassani as the head of Nador El Aroui Airport and El Mokhtar Dahraoui as the head of Agadir Al Massira Airport. With their extensive experience in air navigation and airport infrastructure management, their mission will be to implement the reforms outlined in the Airports 2030 strategy, aiming for compliance with international standards and the management of digitalization and infrastructure improvement projects, according to an ONDA statement. The Airports 2030 strategy aims for a major overhaul of infrastructure, services, and management processes. «The appointment of these two new directors marks a key step in ensuring the effective implementation of these reforms and meeting the growing demands of travelers and airlines», the same source adds. The goal is to accelerate the modernization of their respective airports by implementing innovative solutions to streamline the passenger journey, enhance airport services, and improve operational efficiency. In this context, ONDA notes that Nador El Aroui Airport welcomed over 1.05 million passengers in 2024 (+3%), surpassing the one million passenger mark for the first time. Meanwhile, Agadir Al Massira Airport welcomed 3.1 million passengers in 2024 (+36%). To support this growth at Agadir Airport, an infrastructure expansion project will be undertaken as part of the Airports 2030 strategy and in preparation for Morocco hosting the 2030 World Cup.
