Some roads may experience traffic disruptions due to snowfall in mountainous areas, heavy thunderstorms with hail, and strong wind gusts carrying dust, as forecasted by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) from Friday night until Monday in several provinces across the Kingdom, the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics, and Water announced. Following the weather alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, which predicts snowfall on elevations exceeding 1,500 meters with accumulations between 25 and 60 cm in the provinces of Ifrane, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Midelt, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Guercif, Sefrou, Taza, Boulemane, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Chichaoua, and Taroudant, as well as heavy thunderstorms with hail bringing rainfall between 25 and 130 mm in the provinces of Tangier-Assilah, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Al Hoceima, M'Diq-Fnideq, Ouezzane, Kenitra, Taounate, Sidi Kacem, Taza, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Khenifra, Essaouira, Safi, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Taroudant, and Khemisset, and strong gusts of wind with dust in the provinces of Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Assilah, Larache, Tetouan, M'Diq-Fnideq, Guercif, Sefrou, Ifrane, Boulemane, El Hajeb, Taza, Meknes, Kenitra, Khemisset, Rabat, Skhirate-Temara, Salé, Benslimane, Mediouna, Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Berrechid, Settat, Mohammadia, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Youssoufia, Marrakech, Essaouira, Chichaoua, Rehamna, Safi, Ouarzazate, Taourirt, Figuig, Jerada, Zagora, Tinghir, Midelt, Errachidia, and Tata from Friday night until Monday, some roads in these provinces may experience traffic disruptions," the Ministry stated in a press release. Given these weather conditions, which coincide with the weekend holidays, and to ensure road safety, the Ministry urges road users to postpone travel through affected provinces unless absolutely necessary, avoid nighttime driving, and properly prepare their vehicles by checking mechanical conditions such as battery, brakes, lighting, tire pressure, and windshield wipers. The Ministry also calls on the public to exercise caution, particularly on road sections prone to flooding, including low-lying areas and wadi or chaâba crossings. It advises against crossing submerged embankments during floods, speeding, or making sudden overtakes or maneuvers, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe distance between vehicles. Furthermore, the Ministry stresses the necessity of respecting road signs and following the instructions of local authorities and road brigades to ensure smooth traffic flow.
