Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel. This stance was reiterated on Saturday in Rabat during a press briefing following discussions with his Iraqi counterpart. Bourita also emphasized the support of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the Palestinian Authority, led by Mahmoud Abbas. He underscored Morocco's backing for Palestinian unity and territorial integrity, while maintaining a non-interventionist approach in their internal affairs. «The decision is in the hands of the Palestinians, and Morocco always supports the decisions taken by the Palestinian Authority,» Bourita stated. He praised the «coordination» among Arab countries on this issue, highlighting that such collaboration bolsters the Palestinian position, as they are the primary stakeholders in this matter. The Foreign Minister acknowledged that the current situation in the Middle East presents «both challenges and opportunities». In light of these developments, Egypt has called for an extraordinary Arab League summit to be held in Cairo on February 27. The meeting aims to address Israeli and American plans to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to other Arab nations.
