Tourism receipts in foreign currency soared to an unprecedented 112 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2024, marking a remarkable 43% increase from 2019 and a 7% rise compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy. «Buoyed by an exceptional year marked by the influx of 17.4 million tourists, Morocco has reached a new milestone», the ministry announced in a statement. This momentum was particularly evident in December 2024, with revenues nearing 8 billion dirhams, an 11% increase compared to the same month in 2023. The record-breaking revenues highlight not only Morocco's growing appeal but also its ability to attract a diverse and discerning clientele. This is underscored by a significant 20% rise in tourist arrivals in 2024, the statement noted. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy, remarked, «This growth reflects the maturity of Moroccan tourism, which has adapted to new global trends while capitalizing on its natural, cultural, and human assets». «Today, Morocco relies on a diversified offer and authentic experiences that meet the varied expectations of travelers, and this is reflected in the figures», emphasized Fatim-Zahra Ammor. Beyond their economic significance, these results underscore the major impact of tourism on job creation and local development.
