The Moroccan pavilion at Berlin's Green Week, known as «Grüne Woche», was inaugurated on Friday, marking Morocco's participation in the 89th edition of this renowned international agricultural fair. The event, which runs from January 17 to 26, 2025, in the German capital, serves as a significant platform for showcasing resilient and sustainable agricultural practices. The pavilion was officially opened by Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco's Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests. He was joined by German Minister Cem Özdemir, along with other senior Moroccan officials and representatives from the Moroccan Embassy in Berlin. «The International Green Week in Berlin is an ideal platform for Morocco to expand its international partnerships in the agricultural sector», stated El Bouari. He emphasized that «the Kingdom aims to promote its products as references of quality and sustainability, while sharing its expertise in environmentally friendly agricultural practices». This year, 21 exhibitors representing 39 cooperatives, comprising 1,079 members, are participating. Notably, a cooperative from disaster areas is also present. For eight of these groups, this marks their first participation in an international event. Impressively, 32% of the cooperative members are women from rural areas, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests. The Moroccan pavilion highlights the country's rich cultural heritage and agricultural wealth through its diverse range of local and high value-added products, all adhering to international standards of quality and sustainability. Featured products include argan oil and its derivatives, olive oil, saffron, dates, and various aromatic and medicinal plants from Morocco's 12 regions. This presentation aligns with the Kingdom's «Generation Green 2020-2030» agricultural strategy, which promotes modern and inclusive agriculture, with sustainability and excellence as core priorities, according to the ministry. Globally recognized, the 2025 edition of Berlin's Green Week hosts over 1,500 exhibitors from around 60 countries and attracts nearly 400,000 visitors. The event positions Berlin as a key hub for discussions on food, agriculture, and horticulture. Since its inception in 1926, «Grüne Woche» has been an unparalleled reference in the food industry, agriculture, and horticulture sector. It offers a unique platform for producers worldwide to showcase and test their products, enhancing their international reputation. Morocco's participation in this international event is a strategic opportunity to boost Moroccan exports and strengthen economic ties with Germany and European markets. It also seeks to foster partnerships in innovation, agri-food processing, and sustainability, while exploring new business opportunities in a dynamic global economic landscape.
