The suspect in the murder of a young Moroccan in Pontecorvo, Italy, has been revealed. Mehdi El Boukhani, aged 34, allegedly killed Mourad El Guerounani with a blade to the abdomen. El Boukhani claims it was an act of self-defense, a hypothesis corroborated by the carabinieri, according to Captain Bartolo Taglietti. The Italian press reports that the murder weapon has not yet been found, but it is believed to be a kitchen knife used in the stabbing of the 24-year-old victim. Discovered in a pool of blood, the young man succumbed to his injuries during his transfer to the hospital. Mourad, who worked as a lifeguard at Gianola's Barracuda beach, had been living in Pontecorvo for several months. On the day of the tragedy, he had spent a few hours in a club with his assailant and some Italian friends. The group then went to the apartment where the murder is believed to have taken place. What happened next in the building on Via San Giovanni Battista, in the Melfi district, has yet to be clarified. The young man's body has been transferred to the Santa Scolastica morgue in Cassino, where it will undergo an autopsy.
