A Royal Armed Forces (FAR) drone strike killed Polisario fighters southeast of Mijek, near the Mauritanian border, on Thursday, May 23. Audio messages from Sahrawi refugees living in the Tindouf camps, obtained by Yabiladi, confirm the attack and express grief over losses. MINURSO, which has a ceasefire observation point in Mijek, sent peacekeepers to photograph the targets of the air operation. On Saturday, the Polisario fired three missiles at Es-Smara, which landed in an uninhabited area 12 km from the city and caused no casualties. This new attempt by the Polisario to penetrate the buffer zone comes a day after the Polisario appointed new commanders for its six military regions.
