A Royal Navy high-seas patrol boat provided assistance to a pirogue in distress Thursday, approximately 222 kilometers southwest of Dakhla, Morocco. The vessel was carrying 32 sub-Saharan migrants attempting irregular migration, including two minors. According to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the pirogue had set sail from the Mauritanian coast on Wednesday with the intention of reaching the Canary Islands. The rescued individuals received first aid aboard the patrol boat before being safely transported to Dakhla Port and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures.
