As part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorist threats, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) successfully dismantled a four-member terrorist network on January 29 and 30. Operating in Tangier, Casablanca, Beni Mellal, and Inzegane, the network facilitated the recruitment and deployment of fighters to the «Daesh» organization in the Sahel region. Investigations revealed coordination between the network and «Daesh» leaders in the Sahel, aimed at providing extremists with passage to the conflict zone, according to a BCIJ press release. Searches of the suspects' homes (aged 35-40) yielded various electronic devices, financial sums, bladed weapons (including large sabers), hoods, gloves, and a rifle. This operation underscores the Moroccan security services' commitment to countering the growing threat posed by «Daesh» and other terrorist organizations, particularly in response to recent recruitment campaigns targeting the Sahel region. The arrested individuals remain in police custody while the BCIJ, under the supervision of the Terrorism and Extremism Prosecutor's Office, conducts further investigations. The goal is to determine their international terrorist connections and uncover any potential terrorist plans or activities. Upon completion of the investigation, supervised by the competent public prosecutor, the accused will be brought before the courts.
