For the first time in the Netherlands, around forty Moroccan artists will be gathered to present a picture of the development of modern Moroccan art since independence in 1956 until today. The exhibition, scheduled for summer 2022 at the Cobra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen, is an initiative that will be led by Dutch-Moroccan writer Abdelkader Benali, chosen as guest curator, writes Amstelveen Web. This exhibition, entitled «The other story, Moroccan modernism from 1950 to today», will run from April 15 to September 18, 2022 with works by several artists such as Hamid el Kanbouhi, Khalil Nemmaoui and Wafae Ahalouch el Keriasti. The Cobra Museum will be transformed into a large Moroccan bazaar with food, shows, theater, poetry, cinema, urban culture, sports and fashion, as well as planned Ftours during the month of Ramadan. «It's apparently in the air, because this week the Moroccan Trilogy 1950-2020 exhibition opens at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. We look forward to the collaboration with Benali and the undoubtedly wonderful result which will also give rise to a festive summer full of activities and events for all», said Stefan van Raay, Acting Director and Initiator of the Exhibition at the Cobra Museum of Modern Art.
