The British Museum in London will be home to an exhibition on the Islamic World's impact on Western art. The exhibition will mainly focus on Western artists and painters who were inspired by the Islamic world, the Guardian reports. These works of art will include paintings of French Orientalist Eugène Delacroix, who went in a diplomatic mission to Morocco and produced several paintings while in the country. «Orientalism was one of the defining elements of the 19th and 20th centuries, comparable to other 'isms like surrealism and impressionism», Olivia Threlkeld, co-curator of the exhibition, told the British newspaper. In addition to centuries-old works of art, the exhibition «inspired by the east: how the Islamic world influenced western art» will include works of contemporary artists. One of these artists is Moroccan-born photographer Lalla Essaydi. Photos from her collection «Les Femmes du Maroc» will be part of the exhibition. The exhibition will be at the British museum in London from October the 10th to January the 26th, the same source concluded.
