The next Ordinary Session of the African Union, which will be held from January 21 to February 10 in Addis Ababa, has «Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa's Development» as the theme of the year 2020. During this meeting, the African Union will have South African President Cyril Ramaphosa as president of the continental organization for one year. He will also be in charge of the Western Sahara troika, established during the Nouakchott summit in July 2018. Since its creation, the group has held only one informal meeting in the Ethiopian capital on the sidelines of the Conference of Heads of State of the African Union, organized in February 2019. The presidential Troika on the Sahara did not also meet at the extraordinary summit in Niamey in July 2019. For the record, King Mohammed VI had anticipated a possible meeting of the body in the Nigerien capital by addressing a week earlier two written messages to the Egyptian and Rwandan presidents. On the other hand, no royal letter was sent to Cyril Ramaphosa even when the South African was preparing to enter the troika.
