The 40th edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit was held, Tuesday, in Riyadh. The meeting that lasted only for thirty minutes, was boycotted by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who sent Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani in his stead. Morocco was at the heart of the conclusions made by the end of this meeting. According to the final communiqué of the summit, Gulf States stressed the need of strengthening the «existing strategic partnerships with the brotherly countries, including Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Iraq, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation». The same recommendation was made during the 39th edition of the GCC summit, held in December 2018. For the record, the Saudi capital hosted on April 20, 2016, the first and last Morocco-Gulf States summit. At the time, King Mohammed VI headed the Moroccan delegation.
