Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki met, on Monday in Rabat, with a delegation from the Committee on Energy and Trade at the US House of Representatives on means to promote cooperation between the Moroccan and US law-making bodies. The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the good Moroccan-American relations as evidenced by the implementation of several initiatives that would open new perspectives and foster the strategic dimension of bilateral partnership, El Malki told the press after this meeting. He stressed that the regular political dialogue between the two countries covers areas such as security, economy, culture, education and training in addition to the political aspect, noting that parliamentary cooperation meetings will be held on a regular basis. While welcoming reform projects initiated in the Kingdom, the US delegation stressed the importance of the strategic dimension in bilateral relations as shown by the free trade agreement and its impact at the economic and trade levels.. US Consul General in Morocco and interim chargé d'affaires Jennifer Rasamimanana said that this three-day visit will enable the US parliamentary delegation to take stock of achievements and projects related to the management of energy resources. Morocco is emerging as a pioneering country in the field of renewable energy, said the diplomat, recalling that the delegation held a series of meetings with notably the Minister of Foreign Affairs and officials from the Moroccan solar energy agency (MASEN).
