After arresting a member of the Sahrawi Initiative for Change (SIC), which operates within the Tindouf camps, the family and relatives of another member of the opposition group said he was kidnapped Tuesday. In a communiqué relayed by pro-Polisario platform Futuro Sahara, the movement said that Fadel Brika was abducted on Tuesday, according to his family members. Quoting «unofficial sources», the same online newspaper revealed that more arrests are expected to take place in the coming days in the camps, stressing that the Front is targeting Sahrawi activists known for criticizing the leaders of the separatist movement on social media. Reacting to these arrests, the Sahrawi Initiative for Change announced that its members will be holding a meeting with international human rights associations to address the situation of its «political arrestees». On Monday, Moulay Abba Bouzid, an influential member of SIC, was arrested while taking part in a sit-in staged in the «Samara camp» in front of the delegation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. For the record, SIC was launched in November 2017 as an opposition group within the Tindouf camps. It is chaired by El Hadj Ahmed Barakallah, the brother of the Polisario's former representative at the UN Front Bukhari Ahmed, who died in April 2018.
