Opposition in the Tindouf camps is resuming its activities. Days after Futuro Sahara rebuked the «discourse» of the Polisario leadership, the Sahrawi Initiative for Change (SIC), created last year, announced that it is back on track. The movement's representation in Spain hosted a meeting last week, inviting several Spanish politicians, NGOs and reporters. «During this meeting, attendees discussed the recent round table that was held earlier this month in Geneva and the political strategies and plans of the Initiative», Futuro Sahara reported on Monday. Following the Geneva round table attended by four delegations from Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and the Polisario, the Sahrawi Initiative for Change's representatives in Spain and Portugal met with Mauritanian politicians in Nouakchott and Nouadhibou. «This meeting was an opportunity for the movement to discuss ways to put pressure on the Front in order to operate inside the Tindouf camps», Ahdath, a Moroccan newspaper, wrote in November. In December 2017, the Sahrawi Initiative for Change issued a press release, announcing that it is «an opposition political movement that fights against corruption, smuggling, and social inequality» inside the camps.
