On Thursday, May 16, Algerian acting President Abdelkader Bensaleh received Morocco's ambassador to Algiers Lahcen Abdelkhalek, who presented his credentials. Speaking to media, the Moroccan diplomat said that he conveyed to Bensaleh «the greetings of King Mohammed VI as well as his intention to work on strengthening relations between the two countries», reports APS. The successor of Abdelaziz Bouteflika has instructed the Moroccan ambassador to convey his «greetings» to King Mohammed VI, stressing on his will to work on reinforcing diplomatic relations with the Kingdom. For the record, in October 2016 King Mohammed VI appointed Abdelkhalek as an ambassador to Algeria. On the same day, Algeria's acting president received the French ambassador, Xavier Driencourt, who came to present his credentials.
