Pope Francis is expected to pay Rabat and Casablanca a visit on March the 30th and 31st, 2019, the Vatican announced Tuesday, reports Associated Press (AP). «Invited by King Mohammed VI and bishops, His Holiness Pope Francis will visit Morocco for an apostolic trip in March», said the Holy See in a statement. The visit occurs nearly 34 years after John Paul II flew to Morocco, in August 1985, says the Vatican. It is not the first time that Pope Francis visits Muslim countries. He was received before in Egypt, Azerbaijan and Turkey. He will be the second pope to travel to Morocco after the trip of John Paul II.
