While the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Köhler is currently touring the region, the Polisario Front is taking advantage of this trip, relying on separatists in the Sahara. In a message made public by Futuro Sahara, a pro-Polisario online newspaper, the separatist movement urged Sahrawis in «M'Hamid El Ghizlane, Lagouira» on Tuesday to participate in «peaceful demonstrations». These protests will take place Thursday, 28th of June, the same day on which Horst Köhler is expected to visit Morocco's southern provinces. The Front explains that it is trying to «put pressure» on Morocco, described as an «occupying nation» by the movement so that it «puts an end to its policies» in the Sahara. For the record, Köhler started his new tour in the region on June 23 with a two-day visit to Algiers, where he met Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel and Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia before visiting the Tindouf camps. On Monday, the UN personal envoy arrived in Mauritania.
