The Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara signed a Ministerial Order last week to authorize the launch of operations between Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) and Tarfaya, one of the objectives of the Insular Cabildo's president (administrative entity in the Canary Islands), Marcial Morales, and the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, reports the daily online newspaper ABC. The signing of the Ministerial Order took place at the Atlantic Fair of Logistics and Transport (SALT). The Spanish group Trasmediterránea will be in charge of the new line. The authorization issued by Morocco should allow, in accordance with the requests of the Moroccan authorities, transit on the island of foreign tourists from Tarfaya towards Fuerteventura. The ministerial decree was also signed by the Moroccan Interior Minister, Abdelouafi Laftit. The formal authorization, however, is conditioned by a series of technical mechanisms, such as publishing a version of the decree on the Official Bulletin of Morocco. «This is only a purely technical matter,» official sources in Morocco told ABC daily.
