The National Health Federation will initiate a nationwide strike on Wednesday 19th of April, according to Aujourd'hui le Maroc. The strike will form part of a series of demonstrations that the Moroccan health sector has organized in the previous months. The nurses demands are related to «the integration of graduates and undergraduates into the appropriate scales», which would allow them to «promote their scientific and professional path within the framework of an LMD system», as stated by the organizers of the strike. The protest that concerns only nurses will not exclude other workers from the field that might join the strike too. «They might participate in this disengagement to support the nurses», stated Mohammed Ouardi, Secretary-general of the National Federation of Health to the Moroccan newspaper. The Union, however threatens to organize new strikes if their grievances are ignored. For the record, the Kingdom needs to hire more nurses since official statistics published by the same source indicate that there are currently only 9 nurses available for every 10,000 inhabitants.
