The journey of a Maersk shipping vessel bound for Israel is being closely monitored by pro-Palestinian organizations following its departure from the U.S. port of New Jersey. The ship is suspected of carrying weapons to Israel, including components for F-35 fighter jets. So far, inspections of the Nexoe Maersk's cargo have not confirmed the presence of any weapons. In France, a statement seen by Yabiladi and issued by the CGT General Union of Dock Workers and Port Personnel of the Gulf of Fos noted that «all containers have been checked (nothing to report, no weapons, no parts)» aboard the Nexoe Maersk. In Spain, members of the NGO End Arms Trade with Israel have petitioned a judge in Barcelona to prevent the ship from departing the Catalan port, according to El País. It's worth recalling that on May 19, Spanish authorities had already banned the Danish cargo ship Marianne Danica—which was coming from India and carrying weapons bound for Israel—from docking at a Spanish port. In Morocco, where the Nexoe Maersk docked on Sunday, April 20, in the port of Casablanca, several pro-Palestinian groups mobilized to protest its arrival. Demonstrations were held in Casablanca and Tangier on April 19 and 20, respectively. Back in November 2024, the capital of the Strait had already witnessed similar protests over the arrival of two Maersk ships also suspected of transporting arms to Israel.
